All of my pain
my bitterness
and rage
the hurt that
I have known
forever...
is turned into
my love
for the people around me
i don't know how...
those who I
pass by on
the street
who I read about
and know about
those i imagine
and have never met
a deep sadness and love
wells up inside me
because
     i know
         they are just
like me
and sometimes
i fall in love
openly
but ultimately
it is cast aside
always
like a leaf
at the end of fall
blowing along
some forgotten
lonely sidewalk
in a park of bare trees
that no longer has
visitors...
but is surrounded by the
everyday life
of people going here and there
yet still
i never tire
of falling in love
